Sometimes getting lost in an unfamiliar place can lead to a novel design. The “Taste of Klongsan” is a packaging design born from me and my friends’ trip getting lost in Klong San community where there was a market with plenty of old shops. As nobody could decide what to buy, we came up with a matching game. We made cards with their faces having characters from typography of shops we found there. Each shop had its own style of typography, some handwritten, some printed, so designs were very, very diverse.

We played this game by randomly turning the face of cards up to find a matching pair, then going out finding the actual shop which had the design. This game was very entertaining and novel for something like picking where to eat, and was able to maintain the identity of Thai characters and market in Klong San community.
